Ascendant Technology (Atech) and IBM Rational have reached an agreement to OEM Atech’s WebSphere™ Installation, Configuration, and Automation (WICA) asset with IBM Rational Build Forge. WICA is an enterprise configuration management framework created by Atech and designed specifically for the WebSphere Application Server product and its derivatives. WICA fills a gap in the IBM software portfolio by enabling IBM customers to scale their WebSphere infrastructure with greater efficiency and reduced operating costs.
“The solution significantly reduces operation costs associated with the installation, migration and administration of IBM middleware,” said Michael Loria, vice president, business development, IBM Rational Software. “Entry into the middleware automation space further strengthens IBM Rational’s position as the leader in the development, delivery and maintenance of modern software applications.”
Atech designed and developed the WICA Framework based on best practices, industry standards and the years of combined experience its consultants have obtained in the field to address the needs of WebSphere clients. By extending Build Forge’s enterprise Software Development Lifecycle automation focus with WICA’s ability to manage WebSphere environments, Atech and IBM now offer customers a common, fully-automated interface for build and release processes.

WICA, together with Build Forge, creates a complete Build & Release solution for the IBM WebSphere family that is unrivaled in the marketplace.
